How Do I...

Get a book not owned by the Des Moines Public Library
The Des Moines Public Library participates in Interlibrary Loans with libraries around the state and nation.

Any Des Moines Public Library cardholder in good standing whose address is in the City of
Des Moines, Windsor Heights, or rural Polk County, can make an interlibrary loan request by visiting the library or calling 283.4152, extension 3.

There is a postage fee of $1.25 per request which generally takes two weeks to fill. We cannot Interlibrary Loan audio-visual items.

If you would like to suggest that the Des Moines Public Library purchase a title, please visit the library
to fill out a suggestion form. You do not need to be a Des Moines resident to fill out a suggestion form.
